Search Begins for Next CCC Chancellor

The search for a new California Community Colleges Chancellor is officially underway with active recruitment having begun this month.
Whoever ultimately gets the job will be faced with figuring out how, as a system, to reverse the trend of declining enrollment and achieve meaningful progress toward student success and equity commitments set out in the Roadmap for the Future.

Introducing the Accessibility Center’s 508 Team

Since the beginning of September, the California Community Colleges Accessibility Center has brought in several full-time employees as the center expands its role of supporting IT accessibility efforts in the 116-college system.
The new staff positions were created to help the community colleges address specific obligations defined in Sections 504 and 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act. In the next issue we will introduce the Accessibility Center’s 504 team, which at this writing is still being assembled. For now, let’s talk about 508.

Tech Center Training to Tackle Application Fraud

Following a successful September launch of a new office hours-style training series, the California Community Colleges Technology Center Enabling Services team will host the next session on Wednesday, Nov. 9.
This one-hour online session will address the ongoing issue of application fraud and tools that are available from the Tech Center to help our colleges tackle the problem.

Zoom Account Expanded, Resources Available

As announced via Slack in August, the California Community Colleges Technology Center has expanded its Zoom account to allow webinars with up to 1,000 connections.
The expansion will allow for larger Tech Center webinars, meetings and events expected in 2022-23 and beyond, and it represents an ongoing relationship with ConferZoom, a service of CCC TechConnect. Like the Tech Center, CCCTechConnect is part of the Chancellor’s Office Ed Tech Portfolio as funded by the Digital Innovation and Infrastructure division.

New Look for Tech Center Websites

If you’ve visited any of the project websites of the California Community Colleges Technology Center in the past month, you may have noticed a few changes. And more are yet to come.
An overall streamlining is underway that will not only bring a fresh and inviting appearance to our public-facing websites but also see a number of sites go offline as project tracking and documentation migrates to team collaboration spaces in the Confluence environment.
