The twice-annual workshops are highly anticipated by staff and faculty systemwide who attend to learn from experts about technologies and trends, and from colleagues at other colleges about their experiences and what has worked in practice. This summer's lineup features several presentations from folks at California community colleges of all sizes.

On June 13, the Information Security workshop will feature a presentation from Santa Monica College and two separate sessions presented by the Coast Community College District. The sessions will discuss security concerns each college is dealing with locally and tools and strategies they’ve used to help address these issues.

Additionally, Information Security Center staff will offer expert strategic insights and tactical training on topics requested by past attendees, including ransomware, security auditing, and authentication methods. And Microsoft will present a session on how colleges can utilize built-in Defender antivirus software to protect internet-attached devices.

On June 14, the Accessibility workshop will feature college presentations on some of the most pressing accessibility issues facing our system. They include a joint presentation from Sacramento City College and College of the Redwoods on faculty responsibility for creating accessible materials, and Compton College’s experience in getting all campus departments involved in accessibility efforts.

Other guest presenters include a social media accessibility expert from St. Petersburg College in Central Florida, and an online training manager at WebAIM, a non-profit organization based at the Institute for Disability Research, Policy, and Practice at Utah State University. Additionally, CCC TechConnect will give a brief training on how to enable automatic transcription in Zoom meetings.

Workshop registration is open through June 8. For more information, including session descriptions, presenters, and daily schedules, visit the 2022 Summer Workshops event page.
