Winter IT Workshops Go Online in January

November 19, 2020

College professional working online at homeAs 2020 winds down, preparations are well underway for the 2021 Winter Workshops, being presented in January by the CCC Information Security Center and CCC Accessibility Center.

Registration is open for the two-day event taking place on Monday, January 11, and Tuesday, January 12. With roughly eight weeks left to promote the workshops, interest is strong statewide and registration numbers have already surpassed previous Winter Workshop totals.

Like the Summer Workshops, the winter event will be presented entirely online as colleges throughout the system continue to observe remote work practices that have been in place since mid-March.

A glance at the list of workshop sessions under development shows a focus on revisiting familiar issues that have become even more critical in the distributed work and school environment. Information security presentations will explore the increasing threats of ransomware and phishing attacks as well as specific solutions for controlling and monitoring network access and behaviors. Meanwhile, accessibility sessions will center on tools and policies colleges can adopt to ensure online instructional materials and other digital forms of information are usable by all CCC students.

As always, the workshops are free to attend, and open to all CCC personnel. Workshop information is geared toward:

  • IT administrators, managers and specialists
  • Disability services directors and staff
  • Faculty training and support
  • IT accessibility specialists
