All Things Autumn

November 19, 2020

Autumn slide showWhen does it finally feel like autumn to you? The chill in the air on a crisp, cool night; the smell of homemade soup simmering on the stove; or the vibrant colors of leaves covering the trees?

Whatever gives you the sense that the seasons are finally changing, one thing is for certain during these uncertain times: There is no shortage of (safe) fall activities and beauty if you know where to look.

For me, it’s taking a walk with my daughter, Maddi (and my dog Bert, if he behaves), or cuddling with blankets on the couch on a rainy Sunday while yelling at my fantasy football team to score more points. Add a big pot of chicken tortilla soup (or beans, or stew, or split pea soup) to the mix and I’d call that my perfect fall day.

Thanksgiving 2020: COVID-19 Edition will be a bit different this year, as has been just about everything else since March. Instead of having a small Friendsgiving get together like in previous years, we will stay within our tiny “bubble” and forego the huge meal with friends.

Black Friday shopping will be out as well. That used to be THE day that I looked forward to every year, but not this one. Online shopping is the new place to be and, surprisingly, I have not missed the crowds of in-person shoppers fighting over the last “hot” toy (though this may still happen, except with toilet paper).

Recently, I asked our fellow staff here at the Tech Center to submit photos that highlight some of their favorite things about fall, and we were not disappointed. As always, a big thank you to everyone who was willing to share their photos and stories with us. Enjoy!
